Le
Meridien Kovalam is the first, finest and the largest 5 star beach resort of
Kerala, located at famed Kovalam Beach 15km south of Trivandrum City. Set in
65 acres of scenic property, amidst 5000 swaying palms with its shores washed
gently by the Arabian Sea, Le Meridien Kovalam has a beachfront of 2.5km with
an exclusive beach for the residents of the resort.
This 106 room resort has a variety of accommodation - from the Sea View rooms
to the Royal Suites in the Halcyon Castle, once the summer retreat of the Maharajas
of Travancore. Each room has a sun deck and offers a panoramic view. The Beach
View block, offering an additional 88 rooms, will be commissioned in November
2007.
The resort has 3 fresh water swimming pools, a traditional and authentic Yoga
& Ayurveda Centre, tennis and badminton courts, catamaran and boat rides,
table tennis and a pool table providing an invigorating and rejuvenating holiday
experience.
Location
Located on the Kovalam Beach, Le Meridien Kovalam is 20 minutes drive from the
Trivandrum international airport (15km), 13km from the city centre and shopping
areas, 15km from the places of interest and 15km from the Trivandrum Central
Railway Station.

Sea View Rooms
For the closest experience of being 'at sea' with your feet planted on firm
dry ground, we recommend our Sea View rooms. Just step out to the balcony and
it is a sheer drop to the azure blue sea below and as far as the eye can see.
Sea View rooms offer the best vantage point for viewing the beautiful sunsets.
Cool even by day, the interiors with Kota floors boasts simple and functional
elegance. Room size is 36 square metres. 62 rooms and 2 suites are available.
Royal
Suites at the Halcyon Castle
The imposing Halcyon Castle, the summer retreat of the former Maharajas of Travancore,
stands isolated from the other buildings of the beach paradise in its own grove
of palms. The four royal suites in the castle are in the category of the most
luxurious accommodation available in the handful of five star hotels in the
entire state. Situated on an elevated ground and facing the calm blue waters,
each suite resembles a villa with all modern facilities. The first two suites
are on the ground floor and the remaining two on the first floor of the castle.
Suites 1 & 4 have 79 square metres each of floor space, whilst Suites 2
& 3 each have 74 square metres. Facing the Arabian Sea, guests can witness
the panoramic view of the sunset from the first floor balcony of the Castle.
The full granite structured castle features original Italian floor tiles, antique
finish furniture, king size bed, air-conditioning, luxurious bathroom, pantry,
branded toiletries, bathrobe and slippers, refrigerator and T.V. with cable
channels.
Grove Chalets
Grove Chalets is a cluster of 42 seaside cottages hugging the shoreline, creating
a village like ambience. A Grove Cottage is a beautiful experience - take few
steps forwards, you reach the beach. And few steps backwards and you are at
the swimming pool. The entrance to the Cottages resembles the entry to the traditional
Kerala Wooden Houses of 18th Century with open bathroom concept. This open bathroom
has bathtubs and Sundeck chairs. The room has all modern facilities like regular
attached bathroom, air-conditioning, cable TV, mini-bar & tea/coffee maker.
32 standard chalets, 4 family chalets and 3 villas are available.
Restaurants and Bars
Frangipani - Opening late 2007. With chef's table and interactive kitchen,
this multicuisine restaurant will be located on the poolside of the Beach View
block.
The Green Leaf - Opening beginning of November 2007. The Green Leaf,
offering ethnic cuisine and a limited international menu, will be opened in
the Grove Chalets area.
OSHEEN
- Open 24 hours. Currently open and located in the Sea View block, this is the
perfect venue with a candle light setting and the waves of the sea as the background.
Enjoy the barbecue, cooked to your choice. Coffee shop and restaurant.
Main Bar - Currently open, this will be located in the Sea View block
until the opening of the Beach View block, where the new bar will be located.
Beer & Wine Bar - Located at the Beach Centre, close to the Grove
Chalets. (From June to September, only open during the day from 11am - 7pm).
Beach Centre - Beach shack serving beer and snacks.
Admiral Bar - Main hotel bar serving cocktails, spirits, wines and beers.
A number of proposed restaurants and bars are due to open over the next 12 months.
Leisure Information
The long beachfront and the exclusive beach of Le Meridien Kovalam offers a
choice of catamaran/boat rides, sun bathing, swimming and snorkelling. The Ayurveda
Centre offers a traditional and authentic massage while the Yoga classes improve
the mind and body. A host of outdoor and indoor games are available throughout
the day.
The Activity Centre offers table tennis, pool table, video games, performance
by Fun Rover, and games and excursions.
